During the first visit at Active Spine & Rehab Center, you can expect the doctor to complete a thorough consultation that takes approximately 60 minutes and includes:

Patient history:

You will be asked to fill in forms that provide background information about your symptoms and condition. You will also be asked to provide information on family medical history and previous or current healthcare providers.  Some questions may include:
  • When and how did the pain start? Where is it located?
  • Did you have an accident or injury?
  • What makes it better?  What makes it worse?
Physical examination:

After the history, our doctors will perform a thorough examination. In addition to general tests such as blood pressure, pulse, and reflexes, the examination will include specific orthopedic and neurological tests to assess:
  • Ranges of motion
  • Muscle tone
  • Muscle strength
  • Neurological integrity
Diagnostic studies:

Diagnostic studies help our chiropractors in revealing pathologies and identifying structural abnormalities that more accurately diagnose a condition.  They may or may not be deemed necessary based upon the results of the history and chiropractic examination.  The most common diagnostic studies used by our chiropractors are:
  • Xray
  • MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan
  • Laboratory tests
Diagnosis:

Once the diagnosis is established, the doctor will determine if the condition will respond to chiropractic care.  The doctor will explain:
  • The diagnosed condition
  • The treatment plan
  • The anticipated length of chiropractic care
Treatment plan:

In most cases treatment begins during your first visit.  Some cases may warrant further diagnostic studies prior to beginning treatment and therefore treatment will be delayed until the results of the studies have been interpreted.
